When Cafe owners Keith and Jeanette Shewbert found out Hawaii is the only US state where coffee beans are grown, they seriously considered opening a coffee shop there (they care that much about having fresh coffee!!) But after comparing Hawaii to Norcross, they realized they’d already found the best spot (really!) and set out to provide an excellent coffee experience here at home. The result? Ahhhh……coffee beans that are locally roasted, then freshly ground each day. Hand-pulled espresso shots (our coffee geeks really appreciate that personal touch!) and syrups created in-house for extra-delicious java treats. They hired local baristas who can answer questions like “why does this coffee taste so much better than the stuff they sell at that chain place?” Then they went wild, introducing locally-made banana bread and cakes (no commercial stuff!) plus craft beer, and wines made in small family-owned vineyards and sold through local boutique distributors. Every Friday and Saturday, they have local musicians playing (don’t forget, the Indigo Girls were once a “local band”!) and when you walk in the door, you’re welcomed like one of the locals, even if you call Cumming home (we love folks from Cumming!) 45 South "A Coffee Kitchen" is a community-focused "Third House" that works diligently to make everyone feel at home…and a little more awake, every day!
